What is the cause and Symptoms of Diabetes? What isthe best way to prevent and treat it?
Bad diet and lack of exersise, good diet and exersise.
I know there is a procedure available for Type 1 Diabetes that works for 2-3 years (animal transplant that eventually gets rejected by the human immune system) but does it work with Type 2 Diabetes?
I’m sorry to say the answer is no…..
Unlike type 1 diabetics who produce little or no insulin, type 2 diabetics who make up 90-95% of the diabetic population for the most part produce an adequate supply of insulin, many times with the help of oral medications to help stimulate the pancreas into producing and releasing more insulin. Type 2’s can also use a longer acting Insulin to help in controlling their blood sugars.
The main issue with Type 2’s is that they are to some degree insulin resistant, which means that the insulin their body produces is not making it’s way into the cells of the body to release the excess glucose, thus a buildup of glucose occurs and remains in the blood causing blood sugars to elevate to higher than normal levels which over time causes damage to body systems and organs. Which is why many type 2’s need to take oral medications to help the cells to become less insulin resistant.
Since it deals with the cells of the body, surgery would not be an option.
I have Type 1 Diabetes and I want to get a breast job. Do you think it is ok for me to go through the procedure?
It’s safe so long as the medical/nursing staff as completely aware of your condition and take this into consideration when performing the procedure. This means providing you with appropriate IV fluids when you are fasting for surgery, checking your BMs regularly and ensuring you receive your Insulin when needed.
Hahaha, My mom is famous.
But My whole entire mom’s side is diabetic and i expect my two sisters too. Only female though which is weird. My dad is perfect at health, he never has any problems and doesn’t take vitamins..
So yea, if they got a strong gene.
My dad has diabetes and left it uncontrolled for most of his life. He how has kidney failure. Since his mom has diabetes, it seems as though I’ll probably get it at some point in my life. I am very active, eat well, drink in moderation. If I am a blood and tissue match for my dad, would I even be allowed to donate since I may end up with the same problems later in life?
talk with your own doctor about your health and the risks. Do this before you get tested.good luck
There probably is a refrigerator on board, but he would need ice or ice packs when leaving the train or plane. Would they allow the Insulin in the fridge because of liability reasons?
I have flown many times and you must not put your insulin in your checked baggage for 2 reasons
1. because the Temperature In the baggage hold isn’t really regulated and can vary to extremes
2. if they loose your bags you loose your insulin
you should carry it in your on board luggage and also carry enough strips, injections etc, also take your prescriptions, you will also need a letter from your dr stating that you are carrying sharps and medication. most airlines will not let you store in the fridge
i would advise the same for a train
you can buy Frio packs that you can carry the insulin in to keep them cool. you can store insulin out of the fridge for periods of time for travelling unless you are in a hot car or going to somewhere where it is really hot
give me a description on how you can get each type of diabetes and how to be careful. diabetes runs in our family, but i am not familiar with the disease. all i know is that it means you have high blood sugar?
Basically:
Type 1 (or juvenile onset) also known as Insulin-dependent is when the pancreas fails to produce any insulin at all
Type 2 Diabetes can be controlled by proper medication, diet, and exercise. This is the one that is hereditary. ————————————-
Some of the more common symptoms are:
frequent thirst
frequent urination
headaches
blurred vision
unexplained weight loss
tingling in the fingers

is it possible for a cat to have diabetes? my mom said our cat has it but my mom generally doesnt know what she is talking about.
Hi there…in order to confirm if a cat has diabetes there needs to be a blood glucose test done from your vet. If the blood sugar is elevated the vet will then be able to give you the appropriate course of care for the cat. Here are a few website articles on feline diabetes mellitus:
