I had Gestational Diabetes with my last pregnancy. It was discovered after I had a routine fasting glucose blood test, which came back high and then my numbers were too high during a 3 hour glucose test. If you Googled Gestational Diabetes Symptoms, you know there are generally no symptoms that a woman notices with GD and that is why routine testing is done. If a woman is experiencing any typical diabetic symptoms such as increased thirst, frequent urination, increased hunger, or blurred vision it is more likely she has a possible undiagnosed Type 2 diabetic condition. Additionally, several of those symptoms such as increased urination, vision changes, and increased hunger are common to pregnancy even without GD.
References :
http://www.webmd.com/baby/tc/gestational-diabetes-symptoms

I was diagnosised about a week ago with GD. I had PCOS before becoming pregnant and was on glucophage which my doctor took me off of at 14 weeks. He said that may have increased my odds of getting GD.

I actually felt great for almost my entire second trimester, but now that I'm in my third it's been different. My blood sugar readings (even fasting) have been really high...in the 140's and higher. I've also been swelling in my feet, ankles, and hands. I've been getting very weepy and emotional...and very tired! I'm constantly thirsty.

But, since being diagnosed I've been watching my diet and even though my readings are still high it has helped a lot. I've noticed my swelling is better and I've been a little more awake. My doctor plans on starting me on insulin next week, so I hope that brings my levels down...since my baby is already measuring big!

Good luck to you!
References :
29 weeks with #1, diagnosised with GD

I had GD and the only symptom I had was extreme blurred vision. I was trying to read the back of a package at Wal-mart and no matter where I held the package I COULD NOT read it, it was completely blurry. It just so happened that I was to take the test the next day, but, I already knew the answer. Do you have GD? If you do, try not to worry. I followed the doctors orders and ate right and watched my blood sugar. I only had to take a small amount of insulin at the very end of my pregnancy and my baby weighed only 6 lbs. and is perfect. Good luck!
References :
Whenever I was pregnant , I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I had no signs or symptoms. They just tested me because my mother was diabetic and had huge babies, the smallest one was 12 lbs. I had normal sized babies - 7 lbs.. But 20 years later I became diabetic myself.
References :
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my daughter. I just had her last month. I didn't have any symptoms at all. I was surprised to have it because I didn't have it with my first 2 daughters. Tomorrow I have to go take another 3 hour gestational diabetes test to make sure it went away after having my daughter.
References :
I had GD with my second son. I actually didn't have any symptoms other than a sudden weight gain that was ridiculous like 10 pounds in 4 weeks and I wasn't eating bad.
