WINNER of the 2008 World Diabetes Day Young Voices video contest in NYC. Thanks to all who voted and viewed!
***DISCLAIMER: if a diabetic goes into a hyperglycemic coma, do not give him/her a glucagon shot. you will kill them. the glucagon is for LOW blood sugar, not high. we were just making a rap joke saying that up is down and down is up.
The boys from IA are at it again with another rap parody! This beat from “independent” tells you all about L.W.’s medical problem. Edited and Directed by Luke Widbin. Video by Derrick Rensink, Drew Zomermaand, and Luke Widbin.

Caleb has Type 1 Diabetes. He was diagnosed shortly before turning 4. He currently uses an Insulin pump – the Omnipod (same as his hero Nick Jonas). We are hopeful that Denise Faustman and her team and/or the JDRF will be able to cure this disease in the near future. But they are still in need of funding to do so.

Dr Denise Faustman may hold the cure for Type 1 Diabetes. I would like to see Oprah give her some needed publicity as she tries to raise the funds to prove it. She is attempting to use a drug used for TB vacinations that has been around for MANY years and is very inexpensive. Because of this she can’t get big pharm backing as there isn’t much money to be made. For more info on her funding struggles check out:

stupid annoying teenies were being rude and screaming during this. they need to learn to repsect him.
right after he sang alittle bit longer he did a speech on how he was diagnosed with diabetes and how on the way to the hospital he promised himself he wouldn’t let this slow him down.
my camera ran out of memory but right after this video he said his famous speech about this song. it went like this sorta:
“this song is for every broken heart, for every lost dream, for all the highs and the lows, this song’s for you. for all the broken hearts, for the lost dreamers, for every person who’s ever been let down, sing this song at the top of your lungs. because something special happens when 6000 people come together and sing a song.” – nick j.
