Well when I was diagnosed I was already in the hospital from being sick and my sugars were crazy high so they knew right away I was diabetic. And I know they can do fasting tests to see as well. But can they also tell through blood work?
They can do a blood test called HA1C to see how much sugar is stuck to cells (and how much damage was done to the cells) over the last 12 weeks, to test for diabetes.
They can also do a blood test to determine how much Insulin your pancreas is releasing. I don’t remember the name of this test.

HbA1C is a test that roughly shows a persons glucose control. Thats probably the only other test besides fasting blood glucose levels.
